The new Disney and Pixar film Luca has its first enchanting trailer. The film looks to be putting a new twist on the myths of sea creatures. Check it out below.

Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar’s original feature film “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.

The voice cast for Luca includes Jacob Tremblay as Luca Paguro, a bright and inventive 13-year-old sea monster with endless curiosity — especially when it comes to the mysterious world above the sea; Jack Dylan Grazer as Alberto Scorfano, an independent, free-spirited teenage sea monster with unbridled enthusiasm for the human world; Emma Berman as Giulia, an outgoing and charming adventurer who befriends Luca and Alberto; Maya Rudolph as Daniela, Luca’s mother; Marco Barricelli as Massimo, Giulia’s father; and Jim Gaffigan as Lorenzo, Luca’s father.

The film will be directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren. This will be Pixar’s 24th feature film. According to Enrico Casarosa, he describes the film is an “homage to Fellini and other classic Italian filmmakers, with a dash of Miyazaki in the mix too.” The film will celebrate Pixar’s 35th anniversary.

Luca is set for release in theaters on June 18th, 2021. No word yet if it will be available with Disney+ Premiere Access yet.
