SONY is Grappling with Class Action Lawsuit?

Following detailed reviews and potential cause of drifting. The issue is mainly caused by the joystick hardware, which had been taken off the shelf. At the same time, the joystick manufacturers aren’t new in the making of the hardware. ALPS made the controllers for PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox One, Xbox Elite, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. For gamers, these issues are very predictable and could’ve been prevented. This might be why SONY is facing a class-action lawsuit that intends to replace the controllers for free.

What Causes Drifting Issues in PS5 DualSense Controllers?

The cause of drifting is apparently due to the potentiometer in the controller. The 3 legged device forms the joystick and lets the user control the movement. Joystick could also cause drifting by the spring that helps the joystick back to the neutral, center position and pushes ahead.

The potentiometer has a wiper that slides on the circular track, which controls the voltage levels. This allows the joystick to determine your movement. When this spring is stretched, it makes a new, Non-neutral, and non-centered position that influences the potentiometer’s position and causes drift. Foreign particles or contaminants can also cause drift. When these particles come in contact, they could alter voltages to varying levels and result in drifts.
