BOOM! Studios isn’t finished with Good Ol’ Jack Burton. In fact they have announced new series starring the foul-mouthed truck driver – Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack. According to ScreenRant, who broke the news…this will be the tale of Jack’s final ride. I hope that’s not true.
The new series will even be co-written by the 1986 film’s director himself, John Carpenter. Now that is exciting news. He will be writing the series alongside Anthony Burch with art provided by Jorge Corona. The series comes after the Big Trouble in Little China comic series that ran for 25 issues. That was followed by a Big Trouble in Little China/Escape from New York crossover which also came from BOOM! Studios.
Synopsis: The year is 2020, and hell is literally on Earth. Ching Dai, sick of relying on screw-ups like Lo Pan to do his bidding, has broken the barriers between Earth and the infinite hells, and declared himself ruler of all. Sixty-year-old Jack Burton is alone in a tiny corner of Florida with only his broken radio to talk to, until one day it manages to pick up a message. Someone is out there in the hellscape, and they know a way to stop Ching Dai.
So yeah, as you read in the synopsis, Jack is now a retired senior. Should be fun to see what crotchety old Burton will be like. The title and perhaps series is a nod to Old Man Logan. Either way, I am ready for another adventure aboard the Porkchop Express.
BOOM! Studios has Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack set to hit comic shops in September.
Side Note: Hollywood, just so you know…we want a sequel and not a reboot! SEQUEL…starring Kurt Russell of course.
