We get a fifth feature in the Starship Troopers franchise in CGI animated form titled – Traitor of Mars. Check out all the buggy goodness below.
Where exactly the timeline is set for this sequel is unclear. As is how much they have ignored from the other films. The character of Dizzy from the first movie seems to be in the film…so many questions have been raised.
Synopsis: C’mon You Apes, You Wanna Live Forever?! I have only one rule. Everybody fights, no one quits. The bugs have breached Mars and the Federation’s Fleet is too far to help. It’s up to us to save the planet. On the bounce, Troopers! The only Good Bug is a Dead Bug! Oorah! Federation trooper Johnny Rico is ordered to work with a group of new recruits on a satellite station on Mars, where giant bugs have decided to target their next attack.
Ed Neumeier who wrote the original Starship Troopers film also wrote Traitor of Mars. The film series is of course loose adaptation of Robert Heinlein’s military science fiction novel of the same name.
Some the best news about this film – Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer return as the voices of Johnny Rico and Dizzy Flores from the original film. Comedian DeRay Davis will also lends his talents.
Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars will get a limited theater release August 21st, 2017. Tickets will be available through Fathom Events.
