Coming 2 America? Well, this time, America is coming 2 U! Casting Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Wesley Snipes, Shari Headley, Leslie Jones, and many more. The comedy cult was scheduled for release on the 7th of August by Paramount Pictures. However, just like many scheduled releases, the pandemic delayed the theatrical release. But, we’ll soon be watching the sequel in March 2021 with Amazon Prime. Amazon studios purchased the rights of the film and announced the release on the 5th of March. While the first movie was released in June 1988, the 2021 sequel is going to be more exciting, and obviously funny!
What’s the Plot?
Looking at the trailer, we see Prince Akeem Joffer (Eddy Murphy) came back to America to find his heir to the throne. With some humorous cult comedy and introducing some new faces, the sequel isn’t more like the “Search for Love” from the 1st installment. The trailer begins with King Akeem Joffer (Eddy Murphy) visiting America to find his heir. As the Zamunda Kingdom doesn’t allow women to rule, that’s where we see the family upset. The trailers reveal one thing, and that our favorite Eddy Murphy hasn’t aged at all.
Who’s Coming to the Big Screen?
The movie seems to be maintaining the original essence by featuring some old casts. The King (Eddy Murphy) arrives in Queens, New York where he meets his old mates from the first installments. The sequel is directed by Craig Brewer who is known for “Footloose” and “The Legends of Tarzan”. We also have another popular New Character of General Izzy Played by Wesley Snipes and her daughter Bopoto played by Teyana Taylor.
There seems to be a long-held resentment between King Akeem Joffer (Eddy Murphy) and General Izzi (Wesley Snipes). Following the look at the trailer, general Izzi seems determined to takeover Zamunda. We would be seeing Murphy, Snipes, and Craig Brewer working together after the 2019 release Dolemite is my Name. After more than 3 decades-long breaks, the audience is expecting the old essence of true comedy on the screen in March.
