It has been, what…like a year and a half since Netflix announced The Sandman series based on the popular comic book from Neil Gaiman. Well, it looks like they are getting us closer to the series as the streaming service has announced the cast of the show.

As everyone had assumed, Tom Sturridge will play the lead of the drama based on Gaiman’s DC Comics series, playing Dream, the lord of the dreaming. Gwendoline Christie co-stars as Lucifer, ruler of hell. Tell me you are not in love with that casting?

Vivienne Acheampong will be playing a female version of the character Lucien named Lucienne. Boyd Holbrook will be playing the Corinthian. Charles Dance is playing Roderick Burgess. Asim Chaudhry and Sanjeev Bhaskar round out the dark fantasy portraying Abel and Cain, respectively.

In 1916, Dream, the king of stories and one of the seven Endless, is captured in an occult ritual. After being held captive for 105 years, in 2021 he escapes and sets out to restore order to his kingdom of the Dreaming.

The series was originally to begin filming towards the end of May, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2020, Gaiman revealed on his Twitter that filming was expected to begin in October “lockdown permitting”. Filming finally began on October 15, 2020.

So does the cast sound like good picks to you?
