The Snyder Cut of the Justice League film finally has an official release date. It also has three new posters via Zack Snyder’s Twitter. Check it all out below.
The film will hit the HBO Max streaming service March 18th of 2021. Nearly four years after the original release of the film. Whether there is to be a new theatrical release of the film has still not been made sure.
The theatrical Justice League, released by Warner Bros. in 2017, suffered a difficult production. A script that underwent major changes before and during production between 2016 and 2017. In May 2017, Snyder stepped down during post-production following the death of his daughter, and Joss Whedon took over, completing the film as an uncredited director. (Even though we all know what he did) Whedon oversaw reshoots and other changes that incorporated a brighter tone and more humor and cut the runtime down significantly in accordance with a mandate from Warner Bros. The theatrical Justice League was a box-office disappointment and received mixed reviews, leading Warner Bros. to re-evaluate the future of the DCEU and focus development on individual films.
Now, after serious fan outcry aka the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement, we will finally see what Zack Snyder had originally envisioned for the film. Snyder has stated that his version of Justice League will not be set in the same continuity as Whedon’s version.
Determined to ensure Superman’s ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne aligns forces with Diana Prince with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid, and their dreadful intentions.
The film stars will star Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, and J.K. Simmons as James Gordon.
