Disney has dropped the first teaser for Jon Favreau‘s CGI remake of The Lion King. Check it out below and getting for a feeling of nostalgia like none other.
The Lion King will be the second Disney remake to hit theaters in 2019. The other being Tim Burton’s Dumbo. This is Jon Favreau’s second remake for the House of Mouse following 2016’s The Jungle Book.
The trailer is narrated by the great James Earl Jones who is the only actor from the original animated film to reprise his role. While the trailer is short, it is breathtaking to watch. After you do, tell us what you thought.
Synopsis of the 1994 film: A Lion cub crown prince is tricked by a treacherous uncle into thinking he caused his father’s death and flees into exile in despair, only to learn in adulthood his identity and his responsibilities.
The Lion King features an incredible list of voices that includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones.
The new film was written by Jeff Nathanson, the same man who wrote Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. (We will try to forget that fact)
The Lion King rules his way into theaters July 19th, 2019.
