Tomato brings home the 2017 Summoners War Arena Championship Trophy; Claims Winner’s share of $50,000 Prize Purse and honor of becoming World’s Best Summoner.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – November 27, 2017 – A fierce several months of worldwide competition ended over the weekend as Tomato won the 2017 Summoners War Arena Championship beating out Psy! in a best of five series, earning a $20,000 top prize and distinction as the world’s best summoner. Hosted by Com2us, the Summoners War Arena Championship took place at the Microsoft Theater where more than 3,000 fans cheered on the 16 individuals who won their individual regional qualifiers in major cities such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo.
In addition to the onstage competition, fans onsite had the opportunity to experience the Summoners War universe as it came to life throughout the day. Ranging from troupes of cosplayers to in-depth experiential activations in a mini-theme park setting, the event transcended the notion of a traditional esports event and provided consumers a comprehensive entertainment experience for the weekend.

Throughout the tournament, Com2us streamed every match on YouTube and Twitch in 11 languages and reached an all-time high in Summoners War online viewership with over 100,000 concurrent viewers. This resulted in Summoners War taking the #1 livestream spot on Twitch. In addition to multiple versions and languages for each stream, Com2us also welcomed several Summoners War influencers from France, Germany, Japan, Korea and the United States throughout the day.

During the event, Com2us also announced a partnership with Skybound Entertainment to bring Summoners War to comic books and animation. As a result of the partnership, Skybound’s Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, Skybound co-founder and CEO, David Alpert, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars/The Angry Birds Movie producer and CEO of Skybound North, Catherine Winder, will work closely with Com2us to expand the franchise into new mediums.
