The greatest show in Portland just got better! That’s right, this years Rose City Comic Con is now a Three Day Event! Start planning properly! RCCC is one of our very favorite cons here at SFM. Last year we live broadcast me getting a tattoo from Chris51. Check it out on our Facebook. Good times.
RCCC 2017 will be held at the Oregon Convention Center on September 8th thru the 10th. Tickets and VIP Fast Passes go on sale Monday, March 13th. Tickets will be $55 for a ‘standard, early-bird pass’. RCCC will begin announcing guests starting Monday, March 6th. (Can’t wait to see who is coming this year.)
Besides the awesome news that Rose City Comic Con is now 3 days also comes the news that RCCC has partnered with NYCC founder Greg Topalian’s LeftField Media in an ‘equity agreement’. Rose City joins an already stellar list of cons in the LeftField Media portfolio. What this means for the future of RCCC, we don’t know yet…but it could only be great things.
So what do you think of the merger? CON-glomerates seems to be the new thing with companies like ReedPOP, Wizard World, Informa…etc….etc. Check out the press release below to get more details.
Rose City Comic Con & LeftField Media are Super Friends!
Growing LeftField enters equity agreement with Oregon’s premiere pop culture event
NEW YORK, NY (February 7, 2017) – LeftField Media LLC, a boutique event company launched in 2014 by some of the most experienced names in the event business, today announced their investment in Portland, Oregon’s Rose City Comic Con. Rose City Comic Con (RCCC), begun by husband and wife team Ron and Paula Brister in 2011, is a pop culture convention set in the Oregon Convention Center each fall. The event has defined itself as one of the fastest growing fan conventions in the US, and last year attracted over 42,000 attendees. It will take place September 8-10 this year.
Rose City Comic Con is one of the largest fan conventions in the Northwest, spanning the worlds of comics, toys, games, cosplay, movies, and television, and is driven by a Portland-based team dedicated to quality, the fan experience, and customer service. In 2016, Rose City Comic Con welcomed over 25 celebrity guests including Stan “The Man” Lee, John and Joan Cusack, Jon Bernthal, Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Peter Mayhew, Ming-Na Wen, and many more. Additionally, RCCC welcomes an average of 100 of the top comic guests from around the world including Brian Michael Bendis, Geof Darrow, Kelly Sue Deconnick, Matt Fraction, Mike Mignola, Greg Pak, Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, Christian Ward, and others.
“We love our fans, and we love Portland! It’s this creative city and its people that inspired us to start Rose City Comic Con. Our constant and consistent goal is to bring a high quality, family-friendly event that will appeal to Portland each and every year,” said Ron Brister, Rose City Comic Con Founder. “Adding Greg and the LeftField team to the Rose City Comic Con team as partners will continue to allow RCCC to grow in many ways, including adding a day to our 2017 event, making RCCC a three day fan experience for the first time!”
“We are thrilled to join the Rose City Comic Con family,” said LeftField President Greg Topalian. “Ron and his team have created Portland’s leading pop culture event, and we’re excited by the opportunity to support Ron’s passion and vision for further growing RCCC for the incredible Portland community.”
LeftField Media was created in 2014 by New York Comic Con founder Greg Topalian with the vision to build a company focused on nimble thinking, a commitment to new audiences, and bringing together the best of B2B and B2C experiences. It is staffed by a team of veterans who have worked on fan conventions and pop culture festivals across the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In the span of a few short years, LeftField has emerged from a new concept in the event world into an organizer with a portfolio of dynamic events.
Rose City Comic Con expands LeftField’s existing stable of event, which also includes:
● Awesome Con – Washington DC’s comic and pop culture expo
● Anime NYC – NYC’s Japanese pop culture convention powered by Crunchyroll
● Five Points Festival – A designer toy and comic convention curated by Clutter
● Play Fair – A play-focused festival for families made with the Toy Industry Association
● AXPONA – A hi-fi audio convention in partnership with JD Events
● The Classic Auto Show – LA’s classic and vintage auto show
LeftField’s combined roster – Awesome Con, Anime NYC, Five Points, Play Fair, AXPONA, and The Classic Auto Show – delivers quality experiences across very different audiences united by common passions. Further, this roster showcases LeftField as a strong partner, forming alliances with major associations and influencers. LeftField and RCCC look forward to further announcements throughout this year.
