Matt Ryan returns to the role of John Constantine in the CW Seed‘s new animated series – Constantine. Check out a clip for it below. I know that they are calling it a trailer…but if it walks like a duck…

This should appease fans somewhat of the short-lived NBC series. Many fell in love with Ryan’s portrayal of the character. He has since reprised the role for The CW’s Arrow and the animated film Justice League Dark. It’s also been confirmed that he will be appearing in a Season 3 episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Synopsis: Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight. With his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.

However, if you are expecting the show to be similar to the NBC series…think again. According to CW President Mark Pedowitz that there had been no discussions regarding if any other characters that appeared in the canceled live-action series to appear in the web series, nor if this version of the character would “connect back to the live action storylines he’s been a part of.” So, I wouldn’t expect any storylines left from the NBC series to get closure.

The Constantine animated series follows in the footsteps if the CW Seed‘s other show Vixen and the upcoming Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

CW Seed hasn’t set a release date yet for Constantine but it is expected to hit sometime in 2018.
